- - Wisdom tooth removal
- - Surgical endodontics
- -Implant placement
- - Biopsy procedures
- - Polyp removal
- -periodontal surgey .
Not having to refer you to hospital for these procedures avoids long waiting lists and avoids additional anxiety about new surroundings and different operators. All our procedures are carried out following the strictest surgical protocols and cross infection controls.
Will I be awake during surgery?
Many of the procedures can be easily carried out under local anaesthesia LA ( an injection into your gum) which makes the area totally numb. The only sensation you may feel is mild pressure on adjacent tissue.
If the procedure is complex, likely to be prolonged or if you are particularly anxious you may prefer to have sedation in addition to the local anaesthesia.
Click here if you would like to know more about sedation.
What should I expect afterwards?
All surgery has the potential for some discomfort and/or swelling post operatively, although most patients will feel only mild, if any symptoms. Whether or not you have received stitches is important to keep the mouth clean to aid healing and prevent infection. You will be given detailed written pre and post operative care instructions, including the use of pain relief, appropriate mouthwashes and antibiotics where necessary.
